After the destruction of Sandy the artist, walked the devastation, taking in the surroundings and the hardship that people  were going through.

Although most of the wood from the boardwalk was taken by companies to recycle and use in architectural projects, on her daily walks on the beach, Carmen found a few pieces left over that called to her and intrigued her. She has created a series dedicated to The Rockaways with these found boardwalk pieces.
